Review: Callum & Harper

Title: Callum & Harper
Author: Fisher Amelie
Published: December 24, 2011

Rating: 5/5 EReaders

Life sucks for orphans Callum Tate and Harper Bailey.

Kicked out of their foster homes because they suffer the 'eighteen disease' with nothing but a hundred dollar check from the government and a pat on the back, they're forced to rely on a system that failed them miserably.

So they sit. They sit inside Social Services, waiting for their social workers to call their names and offer them the miracle they know will never come but they sit anyway because they have nowhere else to go, no other options on their very literal and figurative empty plates.

But as they sit, they notice the other. Although captivated, they each come to the conclusion that life is complicated enough without throwing in a boiling tension that can't ever be acted upon because they're both too busy thinking about where their next meal will come from but when their names are called and both are placed on a year long waiting list for permanent housing, suddenly relying on each other seems like a very viable plan B.

And, oh, how lovely Plan B's can be.

Well, except for the psycho from Harper's past that haunts her and, oh, yeah, there's the little issue that neither of them knows they're in love with the other.

Needless to say, Callum & Harper's life just got a bit more complicated.

“One day, you and I are gonna’ wake up and be alright. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow but one day. One day. I promise you.” - Callum Tate

This cover is so dynamic!!! I would have just bought a copy even if the story stunk for my shelf or nook. It is so pretty and the colors just make it excellent. I really don't know how to describe this cover because I am not a very good poet nor anything else ,but goodness, this is one is perfect for the book. Definalty my favorite cover of 2012 and containing one of my favorite books of 2012.

I L-O-V-E-D this book with a burning passion. So well written that I laughed and cried along with the characters in all the right places. I fell in love with Callum Tate from the beginning. Married for 2 years and you didn't even kiss each other? I think that Fisher should have wrote Callum to fall in love with a certain Courtney..hint..hint.. It really was a phenomenal romance story.

I can honestly say I have never read anything that had a plot even near like this book. Fisher takes 2 orphans, 5,000, New York,  a bunch of creative friends, physco path ,and turns all this into an amazing book where both characters don't fall in love at once. Sure they had feelings but it develops along with the plot- they fall more and more in love with everyday.

I am also in love with Fisher's  writing style. It is like my addiction to the Cuties oranges Clementines. I was biting my nails in anticipation then my nook went dead leaving a certain Courtney bawling on the floor because she couldn't find her charger.

When I found that charger I read it slowly and let the words inscript themselves in my mind. John. I wanted to dig my fingernails into his head and kill him. I have a feeling that John would probally kill me before I even got near him since I am about 5'1 it wouldn't go over well with me.  It would be worth my death to insure that Harper would never be harmed again.

LAST PART CONTAINS SPOILERS DON'T READ IF HAVENT READ BOOK

The wedding was AMAZING. I think it exceeds Bella and Edwards wedding. Okay, I think it would since I haven't read the book in forever and I am not allowed to watch Breaking Dawn. I also think I developed a love for Tye-Dye Tom. He is one of the most generous people I have ever met. Yes, I have met him- in my imagination that is.

But the flowers and dress were perfect. I now have something to plan my wedding on if I can ever find a guy who I don't scare away with my sarcastic sense of humor and obsessive reading habit.
