The Secret

Cover of the Day: Girl Unmoored

Girl Unmoored by Jennifer Gooch Hummer This is a really sweet and simple and cute cover. I love the title font and colors, the little cloud with the raindrops, and the sailboat. The sailboat is definitely my favorite part of this cover. I don't know how well you can read the words on the sail from this picture, but it says "What love means to me" over and over again. This cover really seems to flow together very nicely, even the quote at the top.  I love it! Whatdya think? -Amanda B.

Author Interview: Jay Crownover Author of Rule

Talia and I are so super excited to bring to you an author interview we had with Jay Crownover, debut author of Rule. Which has almost 5,000 reviews on Goodreads in less than a month! Which Talia was telling me "The best thing God ever did this century was bless Jay Crownover with a writers head."  So after some begging, I finally let her in on some asking questions along with me.  So we are both super excited to introduce for her first author interview EVER, Jay Crownover! *trumpets playing*  Okay, maybe not the first on the web, since I am a procrastinator, but we were the first to interview her. :  1) Question from Court: Thanks for being on the blog, Jay. You have no idea how excited we are to have you here. Seriously, no idea at all how long I jumped around my room like a rabbit on crack that Jay Crownover agreed to do an author interview with me. So, where did the idea for Rule-both boy and book- come from? First of all I don’t even want to...

Cover of The Day: The Gathering Dark

The Gathering Dark by Christine Johnson The thing I love the most about this cover is its simplicity. Nothing to fancy and too much, or to typical. The way the model's hair covers her face is unique and pretty mysterious. And the stars background adds some mystery to the cover. The dress is gorgeous! Loved the font of the title, fits with the background and the color blend perfectly. It's these covers that make me remember why I love reading so much! What are your thoughts? - Soma

Cover of the Day: Ink

In a perfect world, this would be the kind of cover that I would want to see all the time. Look at it for a second-- I love the little Japanese cherry blossoms that are incorporated into the design all over, and I like how it looks like it was painted with watercolors. Something about her face is a bit off-putting (maybe her lips are too large?), but overall the effect is awesome. My only real complaint is that the author's name is too small. What are YOUR thoughts?

Cover of the Day: Vessel

Vessel by Sarah Beth Durst What's not to love about this cover? The title is transparent! I never knew that would be a wonderful characteristic for a cover, so I'm really impressed. The model looks fierce and beautiful at the same time. The  colors are a perfect fit. The moon and the sand add a mystical touch. I'm in awe. :) What do you think?

Look-Alikes: These Girls and You Have Seven Messages

I've long been a fan of the simplistic cover that You Have Seven Messages sports, but when I stumbled across its similar counterpart the other day, I couldn't help but admit that These Girls ' designer also did a fantastic job with the image. I really like both covers here, but I think, all in all, These Girls has won me over. Which is your favorite?

Cover of the Day: That Time I Joined the Circus

Hey guys, sorry for no post last Saturday, but I was deathly sick! I couldn't even find it in me to read a book or post on my own personal book blog! But this week I'm back in action! That Time I Joined the Circus by J.J. Howard      This cover just screams "Interesting story inside! Pick me up!" I love how it has an actual circus pictured on the front. Complete with elephants and big top tents and all! It makes you  think how big a part the circus actually plays in the story. And the lights towards the bottom and the stars toward the top seem to make the book sparkle a little. It makes it stand out even more than it already does. Don't think less of me when I say this, but I don't need to read the synopsis at all, I'll be buying this one just because the cover is so pretty to look at ;)

Cover of the Day: This Strange and Familiar Place

This Strange and Familiar Place by Rachel Carter In my opinion the So Close To You series has some of the most gorgeous covers out right now. Consistent with the first cover, this image contains a beautiful cloud-filled sky, this time paired with a city skyline along the water. Another thing I love is how the image washes out into the black border.  Love it? Like it? Hate it? Let me know!

Cover of the Day: Dash & Lily's Book of Dares

Dash and Lily's Book of Dares by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan I've always loved this cover! I love the city background (especially the colors), and how the title is on the street sign. I love how the colors are a bit... smudgy to make it look like it's snowing, and I LOVE the heart-shaped snowflakes. They go perfect with the cute story inside.  Whatdya think? - Amanda B.

Cover Of The Day: 'Til The World Ends

'Til The World Ends by Julie Kagawa, Ann Aguirre, and Karen Duvall I love the simplicity of this cover. It's nothing too fancy or too typical. Love how the tree root blends into the E for the title. Also love how the title takes up most of the cover and the fact that there is some picture behind the transparent letters of the title. Everything is done perfectly and you cannot help but feel intrigued. What are your thoughts?? - Soma

Cover of the Day: Breadcrumbs

I LOVE this cover-- it's just too cute. The font is very nice, and the cartoonish aspect is spectacular. Middlegrade rules. What are your thoughts?

Cover of the Day: Bang

Bang (Visions #2) by Lisa McMann Where to start? Okay, so mainly, I love the eye. The green blend is beautiful, and the way it looks like a bullet shot through glass just makes me wonder what happened. It's mesmerizing. But I also love how the title doesn't get in the way. It's comfortably placed just below the eye, and you can easily see both things at once.  So what do you think?

Series Spotlight: The Chaos Walking Trilogy

The Chaos Walking Trilogy by Patrick Ness Although it's a series I haven't started yet, it's one I've heard lots about. Of course, something that speaks a lot to me is covers, and these have lots to say. I think the series is a fabulous set. My personal favorite is the second one—I love the silhouettes and the background. Your thoughts?

Cover of the Day: Love Is All You Need

Love Is All You Need by Deb Caletti I am totally loving this cover right now! It's very unique and would really stand out on a bookstore shelf.  You don't see many black & white covers in YA and if the whole thing was black & white I think it would be rather boring, but that one pop of red right there in the middle is what makes it work for me.  I like the fact that instead of making the word LOVE red, which would be the most predictable thing, the designer instead chose to make the umbrella a color that we associate with the word love in our minds.   Love it? Like it? Hate it? Let me know!

Cover of the Day: The Tragedy Paper

The Tragedy Paper by Elizabeth Laban Can you tell I'm in a wintery mood lately? I'm instantly attracted to anything with snow or lots of blue and white. This beautiful landscape of a cover is no exception. I especially love the dramatic little person running right down the middle all in black. My only nitpick for this one is that the title is a little too blurred for my taste. You have to give it a second glance to catch it. Is that just me? Your thoughts?

Cover of The Day: The Death of Bees

The Death of Bees by Lisa O'Donnell Absolutely love the colors of this cover. the strange blend between purple and blue and their shades gives a really night-y feel to the book. Love the title's font, and the tree growing ON the house on the right of the cover is plain strange and unique. The two shadows are mysterious. I cannot wait to get my hands on this book! What do you think? - Soma

Cover of the Day: Waiting for You

Okay guys, I'm so sorry that I missed last week. I didn't mean to, but I didn't realize until Wednesday. By then it was too late. Anywho, I just love this cover. It communicates a really cute contemporary feel, complete with the classic car and all around classic dress. It's adorable, right? I really like the title font, and the author's name isn't too small at all. I think that the only issue that I have with this cover is those light spots. I mean, I like them, but they're also kind of distracting. You know what I mean? What do YOU think of this cover?

Cover of the Day: The Lives We Lost

The Lives We Lost by Megan Crewe I love the cover mainly because the title takes up most of the space, and instead of being one solid color, the title holds most of the background. It's lovely in light blue too, and the falling snow gives it a dreamy look. It's simple, but eye-catching. What do you think?

Cover of the Day: Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea

Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea by April Genevieve Tucholke       I chose this, because it just screams "Look at me!!!" From the scene in the background, to the font of the title, and even the color scheme make you want to jump right into it. The scene as a whole gives off a Gothic feel and it makes the book seem all dark and dreary. It immediately gives off the impression that the book will be about something of the same nature. So what do you think?  Love it, like it, or hate it? -Nikki H.

Cover of the Day: Of Triton

Of Triton by Anna Banks Although I only saw this one for the first time the other day, it's quickly become one of my favorite covers of all time. I think we can all agree that underwater covers are just gorgeous, and Of Triton has all the perfect features—the perfect fonts, lighting, spacing. It's just too beautiful for words. Your thoughts?

Cover of The Day: The Twice Lost

The Twice Lost by Sarah Porter What is not to love about this? The mermaids at the top and the bottom complete the look of the cover, and they are beautifully realistic. Loved the font of the title, the wave-y feel of it fits the ocean. And the colors blend together perfectly. I am happy that they chose white for the fonts. What are your thoughts? - Soma

Cover of the Day: Indelible

Indelible by Dawn Metcalf A burning, metallic rose. How does that not sound cool? It's perfect! I love the different shades of oranges used to color the flower, and how the edges are burnt. The dark background makes a good contrast. The title is in a good position too. It doesn't get in the way. What do you think?
