The Secret

Happy New Years

Hello Bookish Loves,      Can I say Merry Late Christmas and Happy New Years from the Middle of Nowhere Mississippi?  Well, I am anyways.  I am excited to say that I did amazing this nine weeks in all of my classes.  I improved in every class except Science....  Which is the main reason why I went without blogging for those months.  That class and my sports were killing me.    Well, the best day of the year is coming up in four days.  My Birthday!!!! Turning the big 1-4, but I liked being 13.  I don't know, but I just love being 13.    I'm rambling at this point, I have nothing to really talk about because I haven't really read any books this holiday.  But Talia said she should have some reviews coming up some time this week.  So be on the look out for those, and hopefully I will get some reading done soon.  Just thought I would update you people!     With Bookish Love, ...

Cover of the Day: Dare You To

Dare You To by Katie McGarry I just had to do this one. The moment I saw it I was all like O_O  Why do I like this cover? It's epic! The title's positioning makes it even more epic. I like the way the font looks worn out, or maybe it's just dirt splattered on it. But above anything else, I love the way the models are positioned, especially since they're both wet. They both look rebellious and utterly in love.  So what do you think?

Look-Alikes: Awaken and So Much Pretty

It's funny to me how similar these covers are when they share so little—just an image of a jar. The jars don't even have the same contents in the two different covers. But they came out eerily similar. They've both got a dark, sketchy coloring, a handwritten-like title, an author's name siting at the bottom in all caps in a redish color. It almost seems like they were made to look alike. Nevertheless, I think both covers are lovely. Your thoughts?

Cover of The Day: The Corner of Bitter and Sweet

Today's Cover of the Day is  The Corner of Bitter and Sweet by Robin Palmer. I love, Love, LOVE the color scheme on this one! The way it has a kind of rainbow effect to it makes the picture in the background pop out more. I also love the way the text is. It doesn't take away from the colors or the picture. I love how everything can stand out on its own here and it would still be pretty if it were all separated.  So what do you think?  Love it, like it, or hate it? -Nikki H.

Cover of the Day: Never Let You Go

Never Let You Go by Emma Carlson Berne I got this book for Christmas, and love  the intensity of it all. The girls face all up in your face, her eyes boring into yours. It draws you in and really makes you want to read the book. The placement of the type is very odd yet in some masterful way it works.  What do you think?

Cover of the Day: Undeadly

Undeadly by Michele Vail For a dark theme, this cover has a lot of pretty elements. Hair blowing freely in the air, a whole set of scenery as the backdrop, and that gorgeous lace that decorates the title. And how about that tagline? Your thoughts?

Cover of The Day: Enchanted Ever After

Enchanted Ever After by Robin D. Owens I absolutely love the colors used in this cover. The blend between the purple, blue, pink, and white is executed perfectly. I wished the font of the title was a little bigger, but the author's title is done perfectly. I love the idea of the reflection on the cover, and the little bubbles reflecting the light. This book is mesmerizing. What are YOUR thoughts? - Soma

Merry Christmas To All!

We here at Cover to Cover are taking a break from the daily cover posting so we can all enjoy the holidays.  The Cover to Cover team wishes you a day full of laughter, cheer and many good books, and will return to you tomorrow. Merry Christmas from us to you!

Cover of the Day: What Lies Beneath

What Lies Beneath by Richard Denney I chose this one, because (besides the fact that I saw the movie  What Lies Beneath  with my brother just this morning) it's really super creepy and I got the chills just by looking at it. I usually don't get that feeling, so I decided to show it off for actually giving me goose bumps (part of that is because she's in a large body of water and... uh... Jaws.) I like the eerie feeling it's emitting. But... uh... I'm just gonna look away now. Yeah.  What do you think? Does it give you the chills too?

Themes: Red Dresses

I always knew that YA fiction had a fair amount of girl-in-dress covers, but I didn't know exactly how many until I went looking for them. Above I've included just a few of the many, many red dress covers YA has to offer. The sequel award: The Elite by Kiera Cass Most intimidating model: Grave Mercy by Robin LaFevers Best use of fog in a cover: Everneath by Brodi Ashton Let me know if you cheer on pretty dress covers, think they've gotten way out of hand or if you think they're okay if it's part of the story in the comments below!

Cover of the Day: The 13th Sign by Kristin Tubb

Today's Cover of the Day is The 13th Sign by Kristin O' Donnell Tubb. The font on the title is STUNNING. My eyes are really drawn to the "13" and it makes me wonder if all the pictures surrounding it have any significance. I also love the way the red pops out from the black and white. It gives it a more sinister feel, especially since the things like the snakes eyes are red.  So what do you think?  Love it, like it, or hate it? -Nikki H.

Cover of the Day: Afterparty

Afterparty by Ann Redisch Stampler I find this cover to be very pretty yet sad at the same time.  The top half is dark and cool, while the bottom half is bright and warm.  The  colors of the blurred city lights are very cheerful but are contradicted by the dark silhouette walking barefoot and alone down the middle of the street. I  like how the girls feet and the road in front of her are the only two things in focus. It really draws our attention to what's ahead of her, and where this path will lead. What do you think?  Is this cover pretty? Sad? Or both?

Cover of the Day: The Lost Girl

The Lost Girl by Sangu Mandanna There are so many awesome aspects here I decided to opt for a list format today. 1. The glowing title! I have strange affinity for text that looks like it's glowing—it's too cool. 2. The tagline—awesome in both its content and in its font. 3. The silhouette...I can't even begin to describe how wonderful it is. The scenery and the hair meshing together and with the background—it's too much. Your thoughts?

Cover of The Day: The Mad Scientist's Daughter

The Mad Scientist's Daughter by Cassandra Rose Clarke I absolutely love this cover. The half moon gives a really mysterious vibe and it's really significant  if you have read the book. I love the title's font, it fits with the story. And I really like it that the cover artists stuck with shades of one color throughout the cover. Also love the close-up of the shadow and the profile of it. Amazingly done. Your thoughts? - Soma

Cover of the Day: Awkward

It's still Tuesday, right? o_O I'm late, I'm late, for a very important date! Sorry I took so long. Anywho, I totally dig the doodles on this cover, and the pencil font for the title--very pretty. But I'm not very interested in the Youtube video thing. Oh well.

Cover of the Day: Beauty

Beauty by Nancy Ohlin Simple and yet classy. It reminds me of Beauty and the Beast, with the rose and the forest and the title. It definitely stood out to me when I saw it. It's just the strange combination of the beautiful dress, the withering rose, and then the murky background. The twist is captivating. And besides, I love Beauty and the Beast! :) What do you think?

Series Spotlight: The Caster Chronicles

The Caster Chronicles by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl I think it's safe to say that this series is a bit of a blogger-favorite when it comes to the covers. There's just something mystifying and beautiful to the black-and-white shots paired with some gorgeous text. (If you want to completely nerd-out on the titles with me, look how the first word on all four of the main books is made completely differently even though it's the same word. It's too awesome for words.) As a whole, I think it's a wonderfully designed set I'd love to own. Your thoughts?

Cover of the Day: Earthbound

So, here is a cover that was just recently released to the blogosphere and I am soooo happy to show you guys it! I am desperately anticipating this book because it deals with mythology and I can't wait to see what it will bring to the table! Earthbound  by Aprilynne Pike I love the colors and the way the image is repeated so many times around it. It gives a bit of mystery to it. And the question in the middle adds even more of a mystery to the book. This book will indeed be one that I will read.  So what do you think?  Love it, like it, or hate it? -Nikki H.
