Immortal Rules by Julie Kagwa

I honestly didn't anticipate reading this one. I have kinda put away buying paranormal although I have started to review it.  What really caused me to rant about this book is the stand for the books in wal-mart! I mean it was so neat I wish I could have bought it for my room!  I know it would have looked creepy having a huge display with a girl with red eyes in my room ,but I would make an exception.   So maybe I can convince the manager to give me the sign. Worst he can say is no.

Book Feature of the Week-Torn by Ashley S Morgan- Excerpt

Isadora looked at her watch. Five to nine. She’d be late, but she didn’t care. This was her time, the highlight of her day, and she was going to squeeze every drop of pleasure out it. Pumping the pedals of her bike harder and harder, she swiftly climbed the hill, feeling the pleasant strain in her thighs and the wind whipping through her sleek black hair. In two months she’d be eligible for her driver’s license, which would be totally awesome. But she’d miss her bike, no doubt about it. She loved these fall mornings – peddling as fast as she could through the crisp air, watching the sunlight turn a rich gold as it filtered through the flaming leaves. She was almost at the crest of the hill, at the bottom of which was her school. Just a couple of more pumps and then…freedom, absolute freedom. The pavement was still wet from last night’s rainfall, and as her wheels glided over the hill, she did what she did every morning. She let go. Spreading her arms like a bird does its wings, she clo...

Book Feature of the Week-Torn by Ashley S Morgan- GIVEAWAY

We are starting off this Book Feature of Week giving away an ebook copy of Torn . So I am not going to offer any extra chances  just leave your email and name. I would appreciate if more than one person enters. Please! Isadora Rivers feels trapped. Her small town high school is suffocating her. Another day of wannabe gangsters, dumb jocks, and Barbie clones, and she'll just lose it. Her keen emotional sensitivity is to blame. She sees through all of the poser behavior to the pain and insecurity simmering just below the surface, and it's overwhelming. She feels like she's literally drowning in other people's emotions. This same sensitivity, however, makes her a great actress. Suffocating or not, her high school is one of the top arts schools in the country. Acting is not only her passion, but it also looks like her way out. If she can just score the lead role in the school play, she might get herself noticed by a Hollywood agent. But she's got a strong r...

Title: Here Author: Denise Grover Swank Sixteen year old Julia Phillips buries herself in guilt after killing her best friend Monica in a car accident. Julia awoke in the hospital with a broken leg, a new talent for drawing and false memories of the accident, in which she dies and Monica lives. The doctors attribute this to her head injury, but no one can explain how a bracelet engraved with her name ended up at the scene of the accident. A bracelet no one has ever seen before. Classmate Evan Whittaker paid Julia no attention before the accident, let alone after. Now suddenly he’s volunteering to tutor her and offering to drive her home. She can't ignore that his new obsession started after his two-day disappearance last week and that he wears a pendant she’s been drawing for months. When the police show up one night looking for Evan, he begs Julia to run with him, convincing her that Monica is still alive. Julia agrees to go, never guessing where he’s really from.   Can I get a lo...

Book Feature of the Week-The Sun Zebra- Interview

I  know I always have a little image for the book feature of the week but I am not on my computer at the moment since it contracted a virus and you try to make things on Picnik on a nook. Not happening, so here I am with the interview. Enough of me rambling here is the interview with Rolando Garcia author of his smash debut The Sun Zebra! 1) So what can you tell us about The Sun Zebra? It is what I call a children's book for grownups.  It’s about adults learning to see the world through the eyes of a child. So far it has received 28 very positive reviews on Amazon. I am very pleased with the reader response.   2) What is your favorite book as a child? Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea by Jules Verne. That was one wild adventure!   3) If you had to go to a party dressed as a book character who would you dress up as? Definitely the Frankenstein monster, but I would be nicer and more eloquent.   4) What is your advice to the writers of the world? Don’...

Kristin

I would love to introduce our newest book blogger at Courtney's Book Nook. I am extremly happy for her to be joing the Courtney's Book Nook crew that used to only consist of me. Here is what she told us about herself- Hola! I'm Kristin! I'm really not good at writing things like this so if you just don't read this, you're not really missing much. Just a bunch of mindless rambling. Okay, so I'm 14 and the oldest of 3 girls in the family! I am 5'4" and, according to the doctor, not going to grow anymore! I have naturally brown hair, but right now it's red (and sadly it's washing/fading out so it should be gone by next week :( ) and brown eyes. Um I'm just going to get this out there... Music is my life! Like not even kidding. I wouldn't be able to live without music, I always have music playing whether it's an earbud in my ear, or my iPod plugged into my iHome. I have a lot of favorite artists and bands! (Alex Gaskarth *faint* I w...

Review: Catching Jordan by Miranda Kenneally

What girl doesn't want to be surrounded by gorgeous jocks day in and day out? Jordan Woods isn't just surrounded by hot guys, though-she leads them as the captain and quarterback of her high school football team. They all see her as one of the guys, and that's just fine. As long as she gets her athletic scholarship to a powerhouse university. But now there's a new guy in town who threatens her starting position... suddenly she's hoping he'll see her as more than just a teammate.   I really am in love with this lovely cover. Although I must admit I thought the blue jean shorts were a mini skirt at first. It made my mind think, Wait- Is this girl a girly-girl on the football team. Then closer observations helped me realize it was a pair of shorts. The cover is what pulled me in and when I read the synopsis, I was head-over-heels. I was debating whether or not to buy it on my nook and we went in a B&N store in Tupelo  and it was featured in the YA secti...

Book Feature of the Week - Thoughtless- Excerpt

From Chapter 4 - Taunted The bell rang and I slammed my locker shut.  My next class was around the corner; Biology.  Mr. Wellborne would flip if I was late again.  My bag was heavy but I managed to run to class just in time, taking my usual seat.  Today I'd be forced to sit through a boring lecture about the digestive system.  "Hi Bridget."  The girl sitting next to me smiled.  She'd never spoken to me before now.  In Biology class, I usually kept my head down and doodled in my notebook.  Sometimes I had headphones on.  And if Mr. Wellborne ever called on me, he was usually thinking of the answer he was looking for.  That was my system and I stuck to it every class.  "Hey," I replied trying to sound polite, though I knew why she was suddenly friendly.  Her thoughts entered my head, making it hard for me to keep smiling.  She's the girl that snagged Terrence.  "I saw you at the homecoming dance.  Your dres...
